North State Shooting Club

Organized in 1971

Organized in 1971 by members of the NC National Guard Rifle Team and four local civilians at the request of the Adjutant General for North Carolina, NSSC is an incorporated private organization utilizing the Camp Butner National Guard Training Site. The AG wanted more community involvement with the military so the club was designed to promote safe small arms skills, marksmanship and good sportsmanship through competition between military and civilian competitors. Competitive shooting programs helps improve National Defense and Public Safety.

    Rules: Current NRA High Power Rules will apply.

    Rifles Allowed: Service Rifle-Rule 3.1; Any Rifle-Rule 3.3.2; Palma Rifle-Rule 3.3.1; F-Class-Rule 3.4.

    Targets: Electronic Targets will be used.

    Relays: 1 and 2 will shoot 1st on Sat, 3 and 4 will shoot first on Sun.

    Awards: There will be separate overall/place/match awards for Any Rifle, Service,Palma Rifle and F-Class. Awards will be made for each individual/team match according to NRA classes for Any Rifle, Palma Rifle, Service Rifle, F-O and F-T/R. Three competitors are required to establish an NRA class for each category.

    MATCH 1     600-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class,     unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (22 minutes).
    MATCH 2     600-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class,     2 convertible sighters, 20 record shots (22 minutes).
    MATCH 3     Aggregate of matches 1, 2.
    MATCH 4     4-man Tm match, 600-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class,     2 convertible sighters, 20 record shots per Tm member (47 minutes per 2 shooters).

    Sunday
    MATCH 5     600-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Any Sights or F-Class,     unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (22 minutes).
    MATCH 6     600-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Any Sights or F-Class,     2 convertible sighters, 20 record shots (22 minutes).
    MATCH 7     600-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Any Sights or F-Class,     2 convertible sighters, 20 record shots (22 minutes).

    Awards: Awards will be made for each individual/team match according to NRA classes. Three competitors are required to establish an NRA class for each category. NC State High Power and Service Rifle Champion must be a NC resident.

    Saturday
    MATCH 1    200 yards standing slow fire. 2 sighters and 20 shots for record. NRA rule 5.12. (22 minutes time limit, NRA Rule 8.2a) SR TGT.
    MATCH 2   200 yards rapid fire, standing to sitting/kneeling. 2 sighters and 20 shots for record (two ten-shot strings). NRA rule 5.8, 5.10 (time limit per NRA Rule 8.2b) SR TGT.
    MATCH 3    300 yards rapid fire, standing to prone. 2 sighters and 20 shots for record (two ten-shot strings). NRA rule 5.6 (Time limit per NRA Rule 8.2b) SR3 TGT.
    MATCH 4    600 yard prone slow fire 2 sighters and 20 shots for record. NRA Rule 5.6. (22 minutes time limit, NRA Rule 8.2a) MR1 TGT.
    MATCH 5    600 yard prone slow fire 2 sighters and 20 shots for record. NRA Rule 5.6. (22 minutes time limit, NRA Rule 8.2a) MR1 TGT.
    MATCH 6    Rapid fire aggregate of match 2 & 3.
    MATCH 7   Slow fire aggregate of match 1, 4, & 5.
    MATCH 8   Grand Aggregate of matches 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.

    Sunday
    EIC* “Leg” Match, no sighters allowed.
    Firing will begin at 8:00 am.  Registration and trigger weigh-in starting at 7:00 am in the pits.

    Stage 1:    200 yd, 10 shots for record. Standing, 10 minutes time limit. SR TGT.
    Stage 2:    200 yd, 10 shot string rapid fire in 60 seconds. Standing to Sitting. SR TGT.
    Stage 3:    300 yd, 10 shot string rapid fire in 70 seconds. Standing to Prone. SR3 TGT.
    Stage 4:    600 yd, 20 shots for record. Prone position, 20 minutes time limit. MR1 TGT.

    MATCH 5     1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Any Sights or F-Class, unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (30 minutes).
