Camp Butner

The North State Shooting Club hosts events at the National Guard's Camp Butner Training Site, which is known as an enjoyable shooting range with friendly shooters and great range control support. The club is affiliated with the National Rifle Association (K5228) and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP# 36033) as well as the NC State Rifle and Pistol Association. We encourage all competitors to support and join the NRA and their State Association.

    Rifles Allowed: Service Rifle-Rule 3.1; Any Rifle-Rule 3.2; Palma Rifle-Rule 3.3.1; F-Class-Rule 3.4.

    Targets: Conventional LR, F-Class LR with LRFC.

    Relays: 1 and 2 will shoot 1st on Sat, 3 and 4 will shoot first on Sun.

    Awards: There will be separate overall/place/match awards for Any Rifle and F-Class. Awards will be made for each individual/team match according to NRA classes for Any Rifle, Palma Rifle, Service Rifle, F-O and F-T/R. Three competitors are required to establish an NRA class for each category.

    Awards: The Bruce Teachey Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the high NC resident sling shooter regardless of type rifle and sights used.  To be eligible for NC State Mid-Range Championship match and aggregate awards, competitors must shoot in one of the classes listed below.  NC State Champion must be a NC resident. Awards will be made for each individual NRA class for Any Rifle, Palma Rifle, Service Rifle, F-O and F-T/R. Three competitors are required to establish an NRA class for each category.

E-Targets

The club has purchased new ShotMarker© target systems. Shooters are Strongly Encouraged to have a good zero on your rifle when you arrive at the match. Our Friday practices the day before each match are the perfect opportunity to get your rifle zeroed at the yardage on a paper target!

Bring A Tablet, iPad or Smartphone With You To Camp Butner!

Pre-registration is required. We need to know how many competitors will attend in order to set up enough e-targets ahead of the match. Remember, we are GUESTS of the NC National Guard and they are willing to let NSSC run matches.

Camp Butner will conduct an OIC/RSO training class to become certified as Range Officer in Charge and Range Safety Officer at Camp Butner.
