EVENTS

The North State Shooting Club hosts events at the National Guard's Camp Butner Training Site, which is known as an enjoyable shooting range with friendly shooters and great range control support. The club is affiliated with the National Rifle Association (K5228) and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP# 36033) as well as the NC State Rifle and Pistol Association. We encourage all competitors to support and join the NRA and their State Association.

We invite you to learn more about Camp Butner, download the release form, and more here.

Pre-registration is required. We need to know how many competitors will attend in order to set up enough e-targets ahead of the match and it allows us to squad in advance so that score cards can be prepared for easy and fast distribution. Remember, we are GUESTS of the NC National Guard and they are willing to let NSSC run matches.

    Relays: 1 and 2 will shoot 1st on Sat, 3 and 4 will shoot first on Sun.  There will be a 2 minute blow-off period for each relay in the first match on Saturday.

    300 yards, 2 convertible sighters, 10 shots for record
    500 yards, 2 convertible sighters, 10 shots for record
    600 yards, 2 convertible sighters, 10 shots for record
    1000 yards, 2 convertible sighters, 10 shots for record

    1200: Cease fire and prepare for individual practice.

    1300: Individual Open Practice session starts.

    Course of fire:
    1000 yards, unlimited shots.

    1600: Cease fire and close range.

    Registration starts at 07:00 in the pits. Firing will begin at 08:00 daily.

    Rules: Current NRA High Power Rules will apply.

    Rifles Allowed: Service Rifle-Rule 3.1; Match Rifle-Rule 3.3; Any Sight Match Rifle Rule 3.3.2; F-Class-Rule 3.4.

    Targets: Electronic Targets will be used.

    Relays: 1 and 2 will shoot first on Sat, 3 and 4 will shoot first on Sun.

    Saturday
    MATCH 1   1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class, unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (30 minutes).
    MATCH 2   1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class, unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (30 minutes).
    MATCH 7   4-man Tm match, 1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class,     2 convertible sighters, 20 record shots per Tm member (63 minutes per 2 shooters).

    Sunday 
    MATCH 3   1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class, unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (30 minutes).
    MATCH 4   1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class, unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (30 minutes).
    MATCH 5   1000-yd prone slow fire, Any Rifle, Iron Sights or F-Class, unlimited sighters, 20 record shots (30 minutes).
    MATCH 6   Aggregate of matches 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

E-Targets

The club has purchased new ShotMarker© target systems. Shooters are Strongly Encouraged to have a good zero on your rifle when you arrive at the match. Our Friday practices the day before each match are the perfect opportunity to get your rifle zeroed at the yardage on a paper target!

Bring A Tablet, iPad or Smartphone With You To Camp Butner!

Pre-registration is required. We need to know how many competitors will attend in order to set up enough e-targets ahead of the match. Remember, we are GUESTS of the NC National Guard and they are willing to let NSSC run matches.

OIC/RSO Certification

Camp Butner will conduct an OIC/RSO training class to become certified as Range Officer in Charge and Range Safety Officer at Camp Butner. Each event will begin at 1300 at the dates listed below. Each class lasts approximately two hours. Check in with Range Control for building location.
